Migration Potability:
Migration testing is the evaluation of the transfer of substances from packaging to food or beverages. Potability examines if the migrated substances make the liquid safe and healthy for consumption.
Mass transfer of extraneous matter from the container into the food and water in which it is stored hence affecting the food quality and safety.
To determine the overall migration of constituents of plastic materials and articles intended to come in contact with food stuffs. It is tested as per Indian Standards 9845 (2010)
IS 9873 safety requirement for toys:
- It applies to all kind of toys intended for use in play by children.
- Migration of any hazardous material like heavy metals is tested.
