Packaging testing plays a vital role in ensuring their safety, quality, and performance of the materials across various applications. A good packaging material helps in protecting products, preserving their integrity, and meeting regulatory standards. By conducting thorough testing, we can identify potential challenges and confirm that the materials meet both industry benchmarks and compliance requirements, assuring reliability and customer satisfaction.
The true efficacy of a product is demonstrated when it reaches the buyer in its original, uncompromised condition. Packaging materials play an integral role in ensuring the safe and secure delivery of manufactured goods. However, shippers and manufacturers frequently encounter challenges such as “damaged on arrival,” “leaking packages,” or “spoiled during transit,” underscoring the importance of robust and thoroughly tested packaging solutions.
This is where quality packaging comes into the picture; it ensures zero-defect delivery for your priced goods. A good packaging protects products from external stress both physical as well as from environmental factors. It isolates the internal content from the superficial conditions such as oxygen, and vapour.
Comprehensive Testing Facility
At Qualitek Labs, we are facilitated to provide performance testing and transit testing with NABL accreditation and ISTA certification. While performance tests check the quality of packaging material at different environment conditions, transit tests check the tolerance during several modes of transportation. Another significant relevance of packaging testing is the security on the life cycle of a product; until the product is inside a standardised packaging, it remains in its optimised condition guaranteeing the safe usability.
Performance Testing
Every packaging item is put through tests as per regulatory standards to assess the testing quality. The process involves Bursting, Edge crusting and GSM tests as per the material and requirement. The tests conducted will be as per ISO, TAPPI & BIS standards.
Burst Strength Test
This test evaluates the strength of paper, solid board, and corrugated board by determining their bursting strength, usually measured in kg/cm².
Tensile Strength Test
This mechanical test measures the maximum load a material can withstand before rupturing. It is applicable for paper, board, and plastics, offering insights into tensile strength, elongation, and tearing resistance.
Edge Crush Test
This test evaluates the strength of corrugated boards by measuring edge crush, flat crush, and pin adhesion values. Higher edge crush values correlate to stronger, more durable boxes.
Transit Testing
Packaging should be compatible for transportation through varies modes; transit tastings are meant to check and verify it. STM tests reveal the tensile strength, adhesive strength and other transit properties of packaging material. The tests are conducted as per the guidelines of International Transit Association and NABL.
Vibration Test
This test simulates transportation, storage, and operating environments to evaluate how well filled packages withstand vibrations during transit.
Adhesion Strength Test
Adhesion testing determines the bond strength of adhesives, tapes, and coatings, critical for packaging and quality control in various industries.
Thermal Shock Test
Thermal shock testing assesses a pack's resistance to abrupt temperature changes, simulating real-world conditions such as transitioning between extreme environments.
With wide range of equipment and well-furbished facilities, we provide packaging testing for:
- Paper
- PVC, PPE, and other plastic materials
- Metal
- Wood
